Meet Mark & Jane Ogletree:

Houston, TX Native Mark D. Ogletree is currently an associate professor at BYU in the department of Church History and Doctrine. Mark taught for 21 years in the Church Educational System where he was a seminary teacher, seminary principal, institute instructor, institute director, and CES Coordinator. He received his bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development from Brigham Young University; his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University, and his Ph.D. in Family and Human Development from Utah State University. Before moving to BYU, Mark owned and operated his own marriage and family therapy practice in McKinney, Texas. He continues his private marriage and family therapy practice now in Provo, UT. He has written several books and articles on marriage and family related topics, as well as Church history and doctrine. Mark considers his greatest work and joy, his 8 children and their spouses, and his 24 grandchildren (who lovingly refer to him as Coach). Mark is an avid runner, he loves water skiing, playing BYU intramural softball with his students, watching sports, and being his children and grandchildren’s greatest cheerleader.

Jane (Janie) Cook Ogletree grew up the oldest of 8 children in the suburbs of Houston, TX (where she and Mark met). Jane studied Child Development and Elementary Education at Brigham Young University, where she and Mark dated and then Married. Jane poured her talents and knowledge into raising 8 of her own children. She is now “Mimi” to 24 grandchildren, with no end in sight. Jane has spent more than 34 years (her first born in 1986 and her last graduating in 2020) in the trenches of motherhood, and her children would say she is an “expert in her field”. Her greatest joy is her family.
